Dear Andrew

Dear Andrew,

I can hardly believe you will be a year old tomorrow. I barely remember that tiny 8 pound baby with spikey red hair! You have certainly been a challenge, but your daddy, Abby and I love you so much. You have made our family complete.

Each morning you wake up around 6:30 and play in your crib. Abby is usually the first one in your room and you squeal with delight when you see her. You let me hold you long enough to drink your milk, then you are ready to play! For breakfast you eat a banana and cheerios, two of your most favorite foods. You say "nana" when you see me cutting it up for you.

You are a happy boy in the morning, playing with your cow truck and a ball. Around 9 I put you down for a nap. You go right to sleep, and when I come to get you I usually find you with a book. We play or run errands until it is time to get Abby from preschool. You love to go places with me and ride in your stroller.

For lunch you enjoy fruits like cantalope, apples, peaches, and strawberries. You love vegetables with green peas being your favorite. You eat turkey or chicken. It has been awhile since you had baby food. You decided pretty early that "big people" food was much better. After lunch we play or read books with Abby. Sometimes you listen to the books and sometimes you do your own thing. Your favorite book is Baby Boo and you can find it in the bookshelf on your own.

You take a nap in the afternoon and are happy to watch "shows" with Abby when you wake up. Super Why! really gets your attention. You are happy to see Daddy when he arrives and are eager for dinner. You eat as much or more than your sister does!

After dinner some nights Daddy gives you a bath. You love to play in the tub and then snuggle with Daddy when you are all clean. We have to dry your hair and brush it carefully. You have so much of it! You have already had five haircuts! We put you to bed before 7 and you are ready. You are worn out after a day of playing!

You are a speedy crawler and are getting really good at cruising around the furniture and while pushing your walker. You are not afraid to let go and when you do, you either take a few steps or fall. There have already been several bruises. You don't care much for shoes and you have really big feet for your age. I have recently moved you to size 18 months in pj's so your feet will fit in them.

You enjoy going to church. On Sundays you may fuss because you have missed your morning nap. Many times you are asleep when we pick you up. You enjoy snack time around the table with your friends. On Mondays you stay with Miss Sandra while Mommy is at Bible Study and you love her.

You have a wonderful family who loves you very much. Four grandparents, four great-grandparents, 2 aunts, 2 uncles, and a cousin. We visit in Emporia and you enjoy staying there.

I look forward to watching you grow--learning to walk, swimming in the pool this summer, playing in the sand at the beach. You are my "sweetest boy"

Love,
Mama
