THE game

On a cold and rainy September day
The Dukes went to Blacksburg, some football to play

Even JMU fans believed it would end
with orange and maroon securing the win

But the purple and gold put up a good fight
and overcame that great Hokie might

A house divided we were for a day
But now that it's over, I really must say

A diploma makes me a Duke for life
but I'm proud to be called.....a Hokie wife!

Little Dukes Too!

I'm trying to teach my kids that other schools besides Virginia Tech exist....for example, a great one called James Madison University!

this little outfit was Abby's

Update

Andrew ended up getting the crud, but he is fine now. My mom had it too. So far so good for Rick and I! We figure if we still feel fine tomorrow we are out of the woods.

The Dukes won, also by 3 points. I believe we will play Villanova next.

We put the tree up last night. After Christmas last year we bought a taller tree because our old one looked a little lost in our new house with its high ceilings. It looks great, even if it is still bare. Maybe tonight we'll get something on it. I put the inside decorations up this morning.

Happy December!

Thanksgiving and weekend

We had a nice Thanksgiving lunch with Rick's family (a big group....parents, grandparents, sibling, aunts, uncles, cousins). Abby was a little "off".....for example, she didn't want to have her picture taken which was unusual. She fell asleep right before we had to leave to go to my family dinner. Then when she was eating she got sick. Yuck. Talk about losing your appetite! She was sick all night and some Friday morning. Thankfully, today she seems like her normal self. I am just praying that the rest of us don't get it. Abby is singing at the Hanging of the Green tomorrow night and our family is supposed to light the advent candle, so we don't want to miss the service!

Rick is on his way back from VT after the Hokies hung on to beat UVA by 3 points. I'm keeping up with JMU's score...they are playing in the first round of the playoffs, ranked #1. GO DUKES!

Weekend

Julie and I had a great time shopping. I didn't have much to buy since Abby can pretty much wear her clothes from last fall/winter, but I still came home with about 5 bags. I did get her a few things (who can resist little girl clothes?) but mostly I bought sleepers for Andrew. I had plenty in the smaller sizes but needed to buy 9 and 12 months. I got him a few outfits and shoes for Abby as well. I also treated myself to a pair of new shoes! We went to Carrabas to eat. I got calamari and a salad, which was delicious. It is also our rule to always get dessert on these shopping days, so that was a treat too! We always have such fun.

Rick and the kids made out fine. They went down to Emporia to watch the Hokies play with Rick's family. The Hokies pulled out the win, but the bigger football news (to me, anyway) was that JMU upset the first-ranked Appalachian State! Yeah Dukes!

Andrew refuses to eat the new formula, so it's back to square one on that. The teeth are beginning to poke through his gums, so hopefully it won't be long! He is rolling over like a champ now.

Tomorrow I have Bible Study in the morning, then Abby and I have haircuts. I'm also going to bite the bullet and go back to Weight Watchers tomorrow night. I have been putting it off but I just need to do it. I had lost 30 pounds prior to having Andrew. I didn't gain it all back, thank goodness! But it's time to get serious! I'll let you know how it goes!
