Dear Andrew

Dear Andrew,

I can hardly believe you will be a year old tomorrow. I barely remember that tiny 8 pound baby with spikey red hair! You have certainly been a challenge, but your daddy, Abby and I love you so much. You have made our family complete.

Each morning you wake up around 6:30 and play in your crib. Abby is usually the first one in your room and you squeal with delight when you see her. You let me hold you long enough to drink your milk, then you are ready to play! For breakfast you eat a banana and cheerios, two of your most favorite foods. You say "nana" when you see me cutting it up for you.

You are a happy boy in the morning, playing with your cow truck and a ball. Around 9 I put you down for a nap. You go right to sleep, and when I come to get you I usually find you with a book. We play or run errands until it is time to get Abby from preschool. You love to go places with me and ride in your stroller.

For lunch you enjoy fruits like cantalope, apples, peaches, and strawberries. You love vegetables with green peas being your favorite. You eat turkey or chicken. It has been awhile since you had baby food. You decided pretty early that "big people" food was much better. After lunch we play or read books with Abby. Sometimes you listen to the books and sometimes you do your own thing. Your favorite book is Baby Boo and you can find it in the bookshelf on your own.

You take a nap in the afternoon and are happy to watch "shows" with Abby when you wake up. Super Why! really gets your attention. You are happy to see Daddy when he arrives and are eager for dinner. You eat as much or more than your sister does!

After dinner some nights Daddy gives you a bath. You love to play in the tub and then snuggle with Daddy when you are all clean. We have to dry your hair and brush it carefully. You have so much of it! You have already had five haircuts! We put you to bed before 7 and you are ready. You are worn out after a day of playing!

You are a speedy crawler and are getting really good at cruising around the furniture and while pushing your walker. You are not afraid to let go and when you do, you either take a few steps or fall. There have already been several bruises. You don't care much for shoes and you have really big feet for your age. I have recently moved you to size 18 months in pj's so your feet will fit in them.

You enjoy going to church. On Sundays you may fuss because you have missed your morning nap. Many times you are asleep when we pick you up. You enjoy snack time around the table with your friends. On Mondays you stay with Miss Sandra while Mommy is at Bible Study and you love her.

You have a wonderful family who loves you very much. Four grandparents, four great-grandparents, 2 aunts, 2 uncles, and a cousin. We visit in Emporia and you enjoy staying there.

I look forward to watching you grow--learning to walk, swimming in the pool this summer, playing in the sand at the beach. You are my "sweetest boy"

Love,
Mama

Show Us Where You Live Living/Family Room Edition

Here is the view of my family room from the foyer. I just noticed that one of the curtains doesn't look right. A certain little boy likes to pull on them.

The rocking chair was my grandparent's and the coffee table was made for us by the dad of some kids I used to babysit for.
>
The bookshelf my grandfather made me when I went to college. It's mostly full of kids books and DVD's now! And over it is our family picture.
> The sofa and end tables. Notice the toys in baskets under each one! One side for Andrew, one side for Abby!
>
This is the catwalk upstairs that looks down into the family room.

As I've said before, my home decor is pretty much toys, toys, and more toys! Soon it will be for you, too, Kelly! :)

How My Life Has Changed Since I Became A Mom

In honor of Mother's Day...

1. In order to take a bath, I must clear the tub of a jillion fish squirters, toy boats, and rubber ducks.
2. I keep fruit snacks and crayons in my purse, in case of an emergency.
3. Every time I clean I find at least two binkies.
4. My home decor is toys, toys, and more toys.
5. My favorite piece of Vera Bradley is my diaper bag.
6. Two c-section scars.
7. The top rack of the dishwasher has two kinds of cups: sippies and those plastic ones with Dora, Cinderella, and Nemo on them.
8. The best-received dinner I make is chicken bites with mac n' cheese.
9. Seeing Rick as a dad makes me love him 100 times more than I already did.
10. Lots more hugs, kisses, and cuddles!

15 Things I'm Lovin' Today

Saw this on another blog and thought it was a great idea....

1. Goes without saying. Jesus.
2. Abby's vivid imagination....Hippy has twin brothers who are coming home today.
3. Watching Andrew push his truck all around the family room.
4. Cherry Coke Zero.
5. My Bible Study ladies.
6. My JMU scrapbook. Felt the need to look at pics of Ham today. So glad I have some.
7. One month 'til I turn 31!
8. All the ceiling fans in my house. It's stuffy today.
9. PBS kids programming. Which is allowing me to write this uninterrupted.
10. Getting ready for Andrew's birthday. Wrapped some presents for him today.
11. Getting ready for Mother's Day. Abby and I worked on a "project" for Grammy and Grandmom earlier.
12. Abby's preschool. What a caring place for her to be!
13. My ice tea maker.
14. Being in a good financial place.
15. The love of my life just walked in the door!

Show Us Where You Live Kitchen Edition

Kelly is having a little home tour on her blog, so I thought I'd join in.

Here is my kitchen:

The eating area. I love all the light that comes in.

Looking in from the eating area. I use the breakfast bar as my "desk", with my laptop and my calendar and such. Notice I am reading "Kelly's Korner"!

My favorite part of the kitchen.....a walk-in pantry! Tons of room!

The main area of the kitchen. If you were standing at the sink, there would be another counter behind you with the stove/oven. I love all the counter space in my kitchen!
