Hooray for Hollywood?

In early April 2004, Rick correctly answered a trivia question on Lite 98 to win a "Fox Prize Pack". He was also entered to win a trip to LA to see a taping of American Idol. We didn't think much of it, because who really wins those things? Well, Rick does!

Two tickets to performance night, two tickets to results night!

We also saw "On Air with Ryan Seacrest".
I was 5 1/2 months pregnant with Abby. The 5 hour plane ride was NOT fun.

The Hollywood sign.

Rick and I with the sign in the background.

Judy Garland's prints

I have no idea why Rick took this picture, but I do remember that while we were there we learned by email about the birth of a special little guy....Ryan Sherrill!

We had a lot of fun, but I am definitely NOT a California girl. No grass, hazy atmostphere, and no sweet tea! Lite 98/Fox Richmond were great, they paid for our airfare, hotel, and some spending money! It was a great experience! This was the year Fantasia won, we were there the night Jon Stevens got voted off (remember him--the redheaded guy who was no good?)

Poem

Saw this poem on another blog and love it. I can get caught up in trying to keep the house, cook the meals, etc...but this is a good reminder about what's really important. Don't know why I'm so sentimental lately. Maybe it's because ABBY IS GOING TO KINDERGARTEN.

Babies Don't Keep by Ruth Hamilton

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,

Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.

Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo

The shopping’s not done
and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard
there’s a hullabaloo

But I’m playing Kanga
and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.

The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.
